White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles was reportedly stunned after discovering that federal investigators had previously obtained her phone records during an earlier inquiry connected to President Donald Trump.
The records were subpoenaed in 2022 and 2023 while Wiles was still a private citizen, as part of a broader investigation examining Trump’s handling of classified documents after leaving office.
The information collected involved call metadata, including phone numbers, dates, and durations of communications, rather than the content of conversations.
Reports also indicated that records linked to Trump ally Kash Patel were gathered during the same period.
The revelation has renewed attention on the extent of investigative steps taken during the federal probe into Trump’s document practices, which later led to legal proceedings that were eventually dismissed following his return to office.
