Federal agents have executed a search warrant at the residence of NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, as well as the homes of several close associates of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in a move that has sparked significant attention and raised questions about the scope of the investigation.

The FBI operation, which took place earlier this week, involved multiple locations connected to key figures in New York City’s political and law enforcement circles. According to sources familiar with the situation, the raids were part of an ongoing investigation, although the exact nature and focus of the probe have not been publicly disclosed by authorities.

Commissioner Caban, who took office as the head of the NYPD earlier this year, was reportedly present during the search at his home. Federal agents were seen removing several boxes of documents and electronic devices, but no arrests were made. The FBI has declined to comment on the specifics of the case, stating only that it is part of a broader investigation.

In addition to Caban’s residence, the homes of several other individuals with close ties to Mayor Adams were also searched. These associates, whose identities have not been officially released, are believed to be involved in various roles within the city administration or connected to Adams’ political network.

The Mayor’s office issued a brief statement expressing full cooperation with law enforcement and confidence that any questions will be resolved in due course. Mayor Adams himself has not been named in any investigation, and there has been no indication that he is a target of the FBI’s inquiry.

The raids have triggered speculation about the potential reasons behind the federal investigation, with some observers suggesting it could relate to recent controversies surrounding city contracts, campaign finance matters, or other administrative actions. However, no official details have been provided to confirm these theories.

As the investigation continues, the actions of the FBI have put a spotlight on New York City’s leadership and raised concerns about potential implications for the city’s governance. The situation remains fluid, and more information is expected to emerge in the coming days as the legal process unfolds.
