A federal judge is now the target of growing impeachment calls after ordering deportation flights carrying Venezuelan gang members back to the United States. The controversial ruling sparked outrage from lawmakers who accused the judge of jeopardizing national security by halting efforts to expel dangerous criminals.

The decision came as U.S. officials had begun transferring members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang out of the country. The deportation effort was part of a broader crackdown aimed at dismantling the gang’s influence within U.S. borders. However, the judge’s intervention forced the return of the flights, allowing the migrants to re-enter American soil.

Critics argue that the ruling defies the government’s responsibility to protect communities from transnational criminal organizations known for extortion, kidnapping, and violent crimes. Lawmakers pushing for impeachment said the judge’s actions effectively placed gang members back into neighborhoods, undermining law enforcement efforts nationwide.

Supporters of the impeachment effort stressed the need for judicial accountability, warning that such rulings enable criminal elements to operate freely. They called on Congress to act swiftly, insisting that the safety of American citizens must take precedence over judicial overreach.
