Federal authorities have launched an investigation involving Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, examining whether their actions or public statements interfered with federal law enforcement operations. The inquiry focuses on events tied to heightened federal activity in Minneapolis and the response from state and city leadership.

The investigation follows increased tension between local officials and federal authorities, particularly surrounding immigration enforcement efforts in the city. Investigators are reviewing whether statements or directives from Walz and Frey crossed legal boundaries or obstructed federal duties.

Both officials have pushed back strongly against the probe, arguing that their conduct was lawful and aimed at protecting public safety and civil rights. They have characterized the investigation as politically driven and maintain they acted within their authority as elected leaders.

The case underscores an escalating conflict between state and federal governments over enforcement powers and policy priorities. Federal officials have not announced any charges, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather information.
