During his campaign for president, Donald Trump kept insisting that one way or another, Mexico would pay for the border wall. Liberal politicians and the liberal media have been claiming that promise would not be kept.
But, today President Trump laid out how he intends to make Mexico pay. It is all about NAFTA. The president said the gains we make by renegotiating NAFTA with Mexico will require only a small portion of the gains to pay for the wall. The president holds all the cards. NAFTA is much more important to Mexico and Canada than they are for us. Right now US companies are at a disadvantage under NAFTA and it has hurt the US manufacturing sector of our economy.
If NAFTA is renegotiated in our favor, we win. If we cancel NAFTA, we win. The world isn’t clamoring for products from Mexico and with the lower corporate taxes US companies will be paying, our products will be much more competitive the world over. The US is known for quality products but our previous tax structure worked against us.
Now, we should be able to increase our market share worldwide. Australia already wants to cut their corporate tax rates because they feel they can no longer compete against the United States.

President Donald Trump plans to use Mexican concessions in ongoing NAFTA negotiations to pay for his proposed 18 billion dollar border wall, he told The Wall Street Journal in an interview.
“They can pay for it indirectly through NAFTA,” Trump explained, adding “we make a good deal on NAFTA, and, say, I’m going to take a small percentage of that money and it’s going toward the wall. Guess what? Mexico’s paying.”
Trump said:
“I believe Mexico will pay for the wall. I have a very good relationship with Mexico… Mexico will pay, in some form, Mexico will pay for the wall.”
