A tour bus carrying between fifty and fifty-two people was returning to New York City from Niagara Falls when it tragically crashed on Interstate 90 in Pembroke, New York. Five people were killed when the car lost control, swerved into the median, and rolled into a ditch; one of them is thought to have been a youngster.
Several people were either trapped in the wreckage or ejected, according to officials. A large rescue attempt was started by first responders, including local law police and medical aircraft. Numerous victims were treated by hospitals, including 27 at a level-one trauma facility and multiple others flown to nearby medical centers.
In addition to confirming the killings, Governor Kathy Hochul stated that her administration is collaborating closely with local and state law enforcement. As authorities piece together the reason of the incident, which preliminary reports indicate may have involved driver loss of control rather than mechanical breakdown, interstate lanes close to Pembroke are still closed.
