An extra week before the midterm elections on November 8, former President Barack Obama is making a last-minute trip to Arizona to campaign for Democratic candidates.
On Wednesday, Obama will join Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, and U.S. Senate nominee Senator Mark Kelly in Phoenix for a Get Out the Vote Rally (D-AZ). The ceremony, which will take place at a to-be-determined site, will feature remarks from Obama, Kelly, and Hobbs. Both candidates have been steadily losing support to Republican challengers who share Trump’s endorsement. Due to Obama’s last-minute action, the 44th and 45th presidents have now entered into a proxy war.
Eight of the previous nine polls provided by FiveThirtyEight show GOP contender for governor in Arizona Kari Lake ahead of the Democrat’s Gary Hobbs, and Hobbs has gotten major backlash from both parties for refusing to debate. Former Fox 10 Phoenix anchor Lake has shown herself to be an excellent communicator during both the primary and general election processes by directly confronting the hostile media, much as Trump has done.
Most recent polls show that Kelly’s opponent in the U.S. Senate race, Blake Masters, has closed the gap significantly in recent months and is now statistically even with Kelly. A Democrat connected to Kelly’s campaign told Politico recently that the election was never secure despite first impressions to the contrary.
There is still a high potential that we would lose, the insider said, since “we feel this is a race that is within a point in any direction.” And it’s something that needs to sink in for everyone.
Obama will be in southern Nevada on Tuesday to campaign for Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Governor Steve Sisolak, two Democrats who are in jeopardy of losing their seats in the Senate. This was first reported by Breitbart News earlier this month (D-NV). Attorney General Adam Laxalt, the Republican contender for U.S. Senate, and Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, the Republican nominee for governor, are locked in tight contests.
The 44th president had a busy weekend, traveling to Michigan to support Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer in her close fight against Republican Tudor Dixon. Later that day, Obama made his way to Wisconsin to campaign for Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, who is attempting to replace Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI).
The previous weekend, Dixon stated on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday that Obama’s efforts to save her opponent’s campaign were “too little, too late,” referring to the president’s recent speech on the economy.
Obama is being brought in now. They snagged Kamala Harris for the job. Joe Biden was brought in. Gretchen Whitmer is bringing in Joe Biden when everyone else is running away from him. It’s tying her down even more to those extreme views, Dixon added. I think it’s too little, too late for them to hope that Barack Obama can bring this back to her.
