In a move that has angered many of its supporters, are slamming the station for supporting the suit by CNN against President Trump. The result of that case will be announced at 3:00 PM EST on Thursday.
Jim Acosta had his pass pulled by the White House over his behavior at a recent press conference. Acosta claims that he is doing his job by blocking other reporters from asking questions. But, the other reporters ask tough questions, but they are not attacking the president in an effort to promote themselves and the president answers those tough questions and the reporters in return show him a modicum of respect.
In the press conference where Acosta did his 4-year-old brat routine, the president took over 60 questions from over thirty reporters.
Fox News Channel announced Wednesday it will support CNN’slawsuit against the White House over the temporary suspension of White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s “hard pass” press credential, revealing the company will file an amicus brief in defense of the partisan network.
Fox News issued a statement accusing the White House of “weaponizing” Secret Service passes for reporters:
FOX News supports CNN in its legal effort to regain its White House reporter’s press credential. We intend to file an amicus brief with the U.S. District Court. Secret Service passes for working White House journalists should never be weaponized. While we don’t condone the growing antagonistic tone by both the President and the press at recent media avails, we do support a free press, access and open exchanges for the American people.
Freedom of the press does not include hijacking press conferences. President Trump answered two questions for Acosta and a couple of follow up exchanges. That wasn’t satisfactory for him and he made an ass out of himself. If the court rules in Acosta’s favor, the president should just quit doing press conferences.
