Fani Willis, the current district attorney of Fulton County and the individual responsible for the Georgia election interference case involving former President Donald Trump, is being investigated on suspicion that she and special prosecutor Nathan Wade engaged in a private affair. Willis made this disclosure in spite of her 2020 commitment to abstain from intimate involvements with her staff.
Willis declared in a 2020 interview on “The Patricia Crayton Show,” while running for district attorney, “I will emphatically not choose to date subordinates.” Notwithstanding this commitment, accusations have surfaced regarding her covert association with Wade, whom she appointed as a special prosecutor for a significant remuneration in November 2021, a day prior to his divorce petition from his spouse.
Willis and Wade were subject to allegations in a motion submitted by Michael Roman, who is one of the eighteen co-defendants of Trump in the RICO Act investigation conducted by Willis. The filing claims that Wade, a private attorney with Wade & Campbell based in Atlanta, utilized a portion of the approximately $654,000 in legal fees to fund extravagant vacations with Willis.
Joycelyn Wade, Wade’s ex-spouse, has additionally asserted in a court document that her ex-husband failed to divulge the extent of his financial gain from the Trump case or his participation in it. She claimed that Wade accompanied Willis on multiple excursions to exotic locales, such as California, Florida, and the Caribbean, despite experiencing financial difficulties.
Willis’s legal representatives have submitted a motion to prevent her deposition in the Wade divorce case, contending that her testimony would be superfluous given the effective dissolution of the marriage in 2017. In response, Joycelyn’s legal team asserted that the dissolution of her marriage was attributable to Nathan Wade’s previous transgressions.
Concerns have been expressed regarding Willis’s judgment and the integrity of the high-profile case she is supervising in light of the affair allegations. An investigation has been opened by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners to determine whether Willis accepted valuable gifts from Wade and misappropriated county funds. Responses to the Atlanta DA are due by February 2nd.
The current circumstances have tainted Willis’s position as the state’s chief law enforcement officer and her management of the Trump prosecution. As the Georgia election interference hearing continues, the controversy surrounding Willis and Wade introduces an additional level of intricacy to the proceedings.
