A Georgia college student who gained attention for her smiling mugshot during a previous arrest is once again in police custody following a second run-in with law enforcement. The young woman, a sorority member at the University of Georgia, was taken into custody late this week on charges related to reckless driving and fleeing from police.
Authorities confirmed that officers attempted to stop the 21-year-old after she was spotted speeding near campus. Instead of pulling over, she allegedly accelerated, leading officers on a brief pursuit before being apprehended. No injuries were reported during the incident.
The arrest comes just weeks after the same student made headlines for her first arrest, where she faced charges of underage alcohol possession and disorderly conduct. Her smiling mugshot from that incident quickly spread across social media, drawing mixed reactions from the public.
According to police, her latest charges include fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. She was booked at the Clarke County Jail, where authorities confirmed she posed for another mugshot — this time with a more subdued expression.
The university has not released a statement regarding the student’s legal troubles. Meanwhile, campus officials stated that any disciplinary action would follow a review of the case in accordance with school policies.
The student was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court next month to face the new charges.
