Presidential hopeful Nikki Haley broke her silence on the recent indictments targeting former President Donald Trump during an exclusive New Hampshire radio interview on Thursday. Instead of rushing to issue a statement immediately after the announcement, Haley strategically chose to hold back, expressing her frustration with the perpetual drama surrounding Trump.
“As opposed to other candidates, I refrained from jumping in with a statement yesterday regarding Trump’s indictment for one simple reason – like most Americans, I’m just exhausted from commenting on every twist and turn of the Trump saga. I’ve lost count of whether this is the third, fourth, or fifth indictment,” Haley candidly revealed on the “Good Morning New Hampshire with Jack Heath” radio show.
Rather than entangling herself in the ongoing legal proceedings, Haley underscored her primary concerns, emphasizing the significance of national security and economic issues. She called for a shift in focus towards addressing challenges like the China threat, border security, and reversing Bidenomics, emphasizing that incarcerating a 77-year-old former president won’t tackle these pressing problems.
“We need to concentrate on how to counter China’s influence, secure our borders, and fix our economy. Locking up a former president in his late 70s won’t get any of that done. It’s time to move forward,” Haley asserted.
Trump’s indictment stems from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the events surrounding the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. The former president faces four federal charges, including conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruction of an official proceeding. A scheduled arraignment awaits Trump in federal court in Washington, D.C., on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.
