GOP Opens Inquiry Into Biden’s Energy Secretary’s EV Road Trip Incident

Republicans on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee are investigating Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm over her recent electric vehicle (EV) road trip, which they allege was a taxpayer-funded publicity stunt aimed at promoting green energy. During the trip, Energy Department staffers used a gas-powered vehicle to block an EV charger outside a Walmart, leading a family to call the police. The GOP lawmakers are seeking documents and information related to the purposes, costs, and consequences of the road trip. They accuse Granholm of poor judgment and highlight the challenges of EVs without support from the fossil fuel industry, which the Biden Administration has criticized. The investigation comes as the Biden Administration pushes for increased EV adoption and stricter emissions regulations.
