Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s unwavering stance against the Biden administration’s immigration policies is garnering significant support from fellow Republican governors across the United States. Abbott’s commitment to reinforcing border security, especially following a recent Supreme Court decision favoring President Biden’s emergency appeal to remove razor wire barriers, has sparked a wave of solidarity among state leaders.
Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma was among the first to express his support, underscoring the shared concerns about border security. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin also voiced his backing, highlighting Abbott’s efforts to secure the border in the face of federal inaction. Youngkin pointed out that the Biden administration, including Vice President Kamala Harris, has been inadequate in addressing the border crisis.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp declared his “full support” for Abbott and Texas, criticizing the Biden administration for neglecting its responsibilities at the southern border. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has previously aided Texas through Operation Lone Star, argued that if the Constitution had rendered states powerless against invasions, Texas would have never joined the Union. DeSantis emphasized that Texas is upholding the law while Biden is flouting it.
In South Dakota, Governor Kristi Noem commended Abbott for invoking Texas’ constitutional authority to defend itself against what she described as a national security crisis created by the Biden administration. Similarly, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum thanked Abbott for his actions to stop illegal crossings and disrupt drug and human trafficking, asserting that Americans are paying the price for Biden’s failed policies.
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte remarked that Abbott is doing what President Biden won’t, by acting against the influx of cartels, illegal drugs, and human trafficking. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry echoed these sentiments, asserting that Biden’s failure to secure the border is jeopardizing the safety of all Americans.
Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox expressed gratitude to Texas and Abbott for addressing the border crisis, which he described as an issue of national security, not partisanship. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey pledged Alabama’s support for Texas, criticizing the White House’s absence in responding to the crisis.
Idaho’s Governor Brad Little, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon also declared their states’ solidarity with Texas in its fight against the border crisis.
These expressions of support from various state leaders underscore the growing concern over the Biden administration’s handling of border security and immigration. As the crisis continues to unfold, these governors are rallying behind Abbott’s efforts, emphasizing the need for a concerted response to secure the nation’s borders and protect American citizens.
