Former Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledges in her upcoming book 107 Days that she was unaware of the harm caused by a remark she made on The View in 2024. Harris said that nothing “comes to mind” when asked if she would have done anything differently than President Joe Biden, pointing out that she was involved in many of the important choices.
She now admits that when she said it, she “just pulled the pin on a hand grenade,” referring to the instant reaction from her team who thought she had given the Trump campaign a foothold. Harris also states that she first didn’t want to focus on their disagreements or publicly attack Biden, but she eventually realized how much her identify with him was influencing her own campaign.
The book illuminates her recognition of her campaign’s political blunders and how some of her statements, which at the time seemed insignificant, ended up serving as pivotal moments in the race’s larger story.
