Harry Styles was struck in the eye by an object thrown from the crowd during his concert in Vienna, the latest in a string of incidents involving performers being injured by objects thrown by fans.
In a video of the incident, Styles can be seen strutting down the runway when an object hits him in the eye. He winces in pain and bends over, covering his eye with his hands. Despite the discomfort, he continues to perform, rubbing his eye as he walks down the stage.
It is not clear what the object was that hit Styles, but it is the latest in a series of incidents involving performers being injured by objects thrown by fans. In June, Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a cell phone during a concert in New York City. She required stitches for her injuries. In July, Pink was hit in the head with a bag of human ashes during a concert in London. And in August, Kelsea Ballerini was hit in the eye with a bracelet during a concert in Tennessee.
These incidents highlight the need for concertgoers to exercise caution and respect for performers. Throwing objects at performers is dangerous and can cause serious injury. It is also disrespectful to the artist and the other fans who are there to enjoy the show.
In the words of Harry Styles, “It’s important to find a place where we can all feel good and treat one another with kindness.” Concerts should be safe spaces for both artists and fans to enjoy the experience without fear of being injured or disrespected.
If you see someone throwing objects at a performer, please report it to security. We all have a responsibility to create a safe and respectful environment for everyone at concerts.
