Gun control activist David Hogg and entrepreneur Elon Musk have criticized New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s ban on carrying handguns in public in cities like Albuquerque. Grisham issued the order, which went into effect on a specific date. The ban includes restrictions on openly or concealed carrying handguns in public, even for concealed carry permit holders.
David Hogg expressed his support for gun safety while asserting that there is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution.
Elon Musk, on the other hand, suggested that the order violated the Constitution and questioned when Governor Grisham could be removed from office.
The National Association for Gun Rights has already filed a lawsuit against Grisham’s order. Additionally, Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman stated that he would not enforce the ban on concealed carry, citing its unconstitutionality, and would continue to focus on criminals who use guns in the commission of crimes.
