Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of the Daily Wire, recently discussed the challenges faced by their newest feature-length comedy, “Lady Ballers,” during an appearance on the PBD Podcast with Patrick Bet-David. The film, which humorously addresses the contentious topic of men participating in women’s sports, debuted its trailer on Monday and has been labeled as potentially the “most triggering comedy of the year.”
Boreing, who also directed the film, shared insights into the difficulties of screening “Lady Ballers” in traditional movie theaters. He suggested that the film’s critique of radical gender theory is a primary reason for Hollywood’s reluctance to distribute it. “For the Left, this topic is akin to a religious belief, and thus, getting theatrical distributors to even consider the film has been a challenge,” Boreing said.
Despite the hurdles, Boreing remains optimistic about the film’s potential success, especially in the current climate where many movies have struggled at the box office. He pointed out that even big studios like Disney have faced disappointing returns recently.
The conversation also touched upon The Daily Wire’s foray into filmmaking. Boreing recounted an interaction with a prominent agent from the United Talent Agency (UTA), highlighting the entertainment industry’s apprehensive stance on the film’s central theme. The UTA agent expressed interest in collaborating with The Daily Wire but stipulated that the company should refrain from addressing transgender issues.
“Lady Ballers” revolves around a former high school basketball coach named Rob, who is desperate to regain his winning streak. He decides to teach his team modern gender theory, encouraging them to identify as women to gain an edge in women’s sports competitions. The film aims to satirize and provoke discussion on a controversial and topical issue.
The comedy is set to premiere exclusively for DailyWire+ subscribers on Friday, December 1, at 8:00 p.m. EST.
