Hawaiian Rent-All, a company that provides rental services for many types of equipment and is located in Honolulu, Hawaii, has given a pointed reaction to President Biden’s recent comparison of a fire that occurred in his kitchen to the catastrophic wildfires that occurred in Maui. The firm, which is famous for the innovative storefront signage it displays, hung a sign that read, “Sorry you almost lost your 1967 Corvette in a fire, Mr. President. Stay courageous, Maui!”

On its Facebook page, the firm posted a picture of the sign along with the statement that showing real sorrow is more valuable than feigning pity for someone else. On social media networks, consumers applauded the corporation for sending a direct message to the president in response to the post, which gathered pace very fast.

Jesse Franklin-Murdock, an attorney with the Dhillon Law Group and a Republican Party delegate from California, emphasized the relevance of the sign in terms of how it reflects the opinion of the general population in Hawaii. Another Hawaiian news radio station, NewsRadio 830 KHVH, lauded Hawaiian Rent-All for the clever way in which they presented their information.

The White House responded by linking to a discussion on X, where spokesperson Andrew Bates offered favorable reaction from authorities and citizens of Maui, supporting Biden’s response to the flames. The White House pointed to this thread in an effort to refute the criticism leveled against Biden.

The analogy that President Biden made between the flames on Maui and a kitchen fire he had in the past has been met with criticism. Biden recalled the lightning strike that started a fire at his house in 2004 when he was giving a speech in Hawaii. He explained how his wife, their classic Corvette, and their cat were all in danger as a result of the fire. The reaction of Hawaiian Rent-All reflects the feeling that the parallel may not have resonated well with those profoundly touched by the disastrous wildfires on Maui, which have resulted in a considerable number of deaths and widespread devastation. These flames have caused severe loss of life and widespread destruction.
