House Republicans have issued an internal memo accusing Democratic lawmakers of misusing the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein to target Donald Trump politically, rather than focus on the victims.
The 10-page document argues that Democrats cherry-picked and misrepresented evidence obtained in the probe to craft a narrative that places the former president in a worst-possible light. It states that Republicans’ contributions to the investigation are being reframed as attacks on Trump’s character rather than efforts to achieve transparency.
In response, the White House called on the Department of Justice to open a fresh investigation into the Democrats’ handling of the case, citing concerns the process is being leveraged as a partisan tool. Meanwhile, Democratic leaders dismissed the GOP claim as a deflection from serious questions about what the files might reveal.
