In order to conduct a more thorough investigation into Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, a House Oversight subcommittee has decided to subpoena former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) submitted the motion, which also requests subpoenas for other important individuals, such as former FBI directors and many former attorneys general, in order to help the panel identify potential ties to Epstein’s purported network.
On July 23, the decision was approved by a voice vote; however, actual subpoenas won’t be effective until James Comer, the chairman of the committee, issues them. The action comes after larger attempts to seek the release of Justice Department data related to the Epstein case, which were backed by both Democrats and Republicans.
Additionally, three Republicans joined Democrats in supporting a bipartisan proposal that compelled an 8–2 vote ordering DOJ to turn over investigation-related information. Additionally, Maxwell has been subpoenaed by the panel, and her hearing is set for August 11 while she is in prison in Florida.
