Hunter Biden was harshly chastised by Republican members during the congressional hearing on Wednesday for not following a congressional subpoena, with some even recommending that he be charged with contempt of Congress. In a stunning reversal of events, Hunter Biden showed up for the hearing, which some saw as a publicity stunt, along with his lawyer Abbe Lowell and close friend Kevin Morris.

There were rumors during the hearing that Hunter Biden’s noncompliance with the subpoena may have warranted an arrest by the House Sergeant at Arms. Hunter Biden was personally challenged by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who charged him with being a coward and representing white privilege. She went so far as to demand his imprisonment and arrest right away.

As Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) started her speech, the tension increased. Greene called Hunter Biden a coward for leaving the hearing with his entourage so quickly, saying he couldn’t even face her. Greene has previously made a contentious public display using a picture of Hunter Biden.

A Harvard Caps/Harris poll indicates that a sizable segment of Democratic voters think Hunter Biden ought to submit to the subpoena issued by the House impeachment investigation, which requires him to appear in person for a public testimony as well as a private deposition. The poll suggests that there should be legal consequences for noncompliance.

Both parties agreed, according to the poll, that Hunter Biden ought to take a deposition behind closed doors. Furthermore, most people agree that Hunter Biden should be prosecuted by the Department of Justice for non-compliance during President Joe Biden’s administration.

Following their investigation of the Biden family’s actions in November 2022, House investigators revealed that Joe Biden had benefited financially from his son James and Hunter Biden’s international business ventures. Evidence also indicated that nine other Biden family members—including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren—were compensated for their endeavors.

Further information against President Joe Biden is being closely examined as the investigation into the Biden family’s international business ties progresses.
