On Thursday, Hunter Biden’s art dealer, Georges Bergès, declined to give the House Oversight Committee details on his sales to unnamed customers.
Attorney and former lobbyist Hunter allegedly sold 12 artworks to undisclosed clients while his father was in government. Reported prices for some works of art range from $500,000 to $5,000,000.
To shed light on the dubious art buys, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) requested testimony from Bergès earlier this year. According to Comer, who was interviewed by Breitbart News in 2022 about who may be purchasing Hunter’s artwork, he is “95 percent convinced” that the purchasers are from China and not President Biden.
Bergès, a seasoned businessman with connections in China, has engaged a counsel and on Thursday notified Comer that he will not discuss Hunter’s art dealings. This is the same issue that Comer has brought up.
In his response to Comer, Bill Pittard wrote, “under these circumstances, distribution of the records and information sought in your letter undoubtedly will impair the efforts of Mr. Biden and the White House to avoid the severe ethical concerns that you highlight.” The two men have been at odds, but Mr. Berges is optimistic that they can work things out.
Pittard has “Congressional and White Collar Investigations” listed as his area of expertise on his LinkedIn profile. The KaiserDillon legal firm in Washington, DC is where Pittard works as a partner.
The art industry is rife with illicit dealings and bribery. Senate report on art-related money laundering anticipated for 2020.
If the worth of a Hunter Biden painting is debatable, why would someone pay a high amount for it? Comer asserts that he is not even close to the level of Pablo Picasso. “international enemies,” most notably China, have utilized “transactions involving fake art sales” to “launder money and dodge sanctions.”
In addition to wire fraud and money laundering, the congressman is investigating a controversy involving Hunter’s collection of expensive artwork. Comer has been looking over Hunter’s bank records in response to these inquiries and has found 150 suspicious wire transfers related to business operations with members of the Biden family in foreign countries including China.
Breitbart Senior Contributor and President of the Government Accountability Institute Peter Schweizer released Hidden Empires in 2018, and in 2020 he will release Profiles in Corruption. Both Hunter and Joe Biden’s autobiographies reveal that less than two weeks after their Air Force Two trip to China in 2013, Hunter’s business negotiated a $1.5 billion transaction with a subsidiary of the Bank of China, the central bank of China. According to his investigation, Schweizer uncovered nepotism within the Biden family and their involvement in multiple multinational corporations with substantial revenue and profit margins.
Breitbart Political Editor Emma-Jo Morris and New York Post reporter Miranda Devine brought international attention to Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” through their reporting. They discovered that Joe Biden had a major role in Hunter’s businesses and may have owned as much as 10% of a company Hunter co-founded with key executives from the Chinese Communist Party.
