Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) said on Friday’s episode of CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that he is “glad to support” the omnibus package but that there wasn’t “enough time to properly cleanse and comprehend what other members have put in it” since it was brought to the floor at the last minute. “I don’t know exactly what every other senator has placed in the bill,” she continued.
I voted for the omnibus, and I’m pleased to support it,” Coons said, “but I don’t like the method.” On the Senate floor, senators from both parties were discussing how to improve the legislative process moving ahead. Because when it all gets to the bottom in the last few days and the final few hours, that does not allow us enough time to completely clean and grasp what other members have placed in it. I am aware that the Delaware congressional delegation, including myself, is ultimately accountable for any expenditure mandated by Congress concerning the state. Still, I am unaware of the specific amendments proposed by my colleagues in the Senate. Since this is contrary to the law, we must move the hearings to the beginning of the year.
