A recently published photo from ICE San Diego has exploded online—not for the subject being arrested, but for the way the image was composed. The image shows the detainee standing beside a female ICE agent who faces the wall, her figure prominently featured while her identity remains concealed. The agent’s posture and appearance quickly caught attention on X (formerly Twitter), where the post has already racked up nearly 25 million views.
The suspect, 42-year-old Diego Hernandez, is an undocumented Mexican national with prior DUI convictions. He was detained following local law enforcement notifying ICE, and he remains in custody awaiting deportation.
While ICE maintains that agents typically turn away from the camera to protect their identities, critics argue the photo appears provocatively styled—drawing backlash for deeming it a publicity-seeking or humiliating portrayal.
