ICE Officers Deployed to ‘Flood the Streets’ of Sanctuary Cities: Report

According to a report in the New York Times, President Donald Trump and ICE have ordered elite Border Patrol agents throughout sanctuary cities with orders to arrest and detain as many illegal aliens as they possibly can. But, remember this is the New York Times. The NYT is not known for ether accuracy or honesty. They may believe the American people will turn on Trump for doing his job and enforcing US law.

I have no doubt that the agents would be ordered to identify and arrest illegal aliens that they know have committed crimes. But arresting every illegal alien is very much in doubt. According to the Times, the operation is scheduled to run from February through December. The elite squad normally concentrates on illegal alien criminals but for this operation they will cover civil infractions.

Speaking to The Hill, acting ICE Director Matthew Albence previously confirmed in a statement that increased surveillance would take place in sanctuary areas across the country where local law enforcement is unwilling or unable to aid ICE in taking dangerous criminals ff the streets. But, notice Albence never said a word about arresting people for merely being in the country illegally, so we just don’t know.

    From The Hill

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has begun 24-hour daily surveillance operations near the homes and workplaces of undocumented immigrants in sanctuary cities across the country, according to an exclusive New York Times report.

A senior official with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told reporters in February that ICE would be deploying Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers to “enhance integrity of the immigration system, protect public safety, and strengthen our national security.”

The partnership was intended to assist ICE, which reportedly did not have enough resources to manage the increase in nondetailed cases increased by the rise of sanctuary jurisdictions. ICE reportedly requested approximately 500 special agents to assist in arrest efforts.
