ICE Poised to Deport 600K in 2025 as Over 2M Leave U.S.: DHS Data

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is currently projecting that up to 600,000 unauthorized migrants will be deported this year under the Trump administration’s ramped-up enforcement strategy.

Since January, DHS reports show more than 493,000 individuals have already been removed, while approximately 1.6 million others have voluntarily exited the country. That brings the total departures—both forced and voluntary—to over 2 million.

Officials say the surge is fueled by renewed ICE operational authority, stricter border controls, and a message of enforcement that is reportedly prompting some migrants to turn back before entry. Meanwhile, arrests of undocumented immigrants have exceeded 457,000 so far in 2025.

Proponents hail the figures as evidence of decisive action on immigration. Critics warn that legal, logistical, and humanitarian issues remain unresolved as the intensified strategy continues.
