Israel has confirmed the death of Saeed Izadi, a senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who managed the Quds Force’s Palestine Corps and oversaw funding and arms transfers to Hamas. The precision airstrike was carried out in western Iran as part of Israel’s ongoing campaign against Iranian military leadership.
Izadi’s role extended beyond financing: he coordinated the movement of advanced rockets, drones, and cash that bolstered Hamas’ arsenal in the months leading up to the group’s Oct. 7, 2023 massacre. Israeli defense officials say his removal deals a major blow to Tehran’s proxy network and disrupts the flow of weapons to militant groups across the region.
The operation follows a series of targeted strikes that have also neutralized Behnam Shahriyari, head of the Quds Force Weapons Transfer Unit, and other senior IRGC figures. Iran has yet to acknowledge Izadi’s death, but analysts expect the regime to attempt retaliatory action while scrambling to rebuild its distribution channels.
