In his inauguration address, newly elected Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that the state would no longer need vaccines against respiratory viruses like rotavirus (C.O.V.I.D.S.).

State physician and pediatrician Dr. Joseph Ladapo disagrees with the proposal to require all children to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reiterated his opposition to making the COVID-19 vaccination obligatory for school-aged children.

Vaccinating Children (V.F.C.) On Wednesday, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (A.C.I.P.) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the project its stamp of approval. None of this would be an issue if not for the injections.

DeSantis said, “As long as I’m kicking and screaming, there will be no COVID shot mandates for your kids,” in a speech announcing an executive order in Florida to offer property tax relief for people harmed by Hurricane Ian. As a parent, you have a lot riding on your shoulders.

The governor’s office started hearing questions about the COVID-19 vaccine for children when it was added to the C.D.C.’s list of recommended immunizations.

He finds it amusing when people bring up the M.M.R. vaccine as an example of an outmoded technique. “have opted not to give children booster vaccines,” the study says of Florida parents.

When asked about giving youngsters a booster shot, he said, “these are innovative injections,” and went on to say that they hadn’t received approval from Florida’s state surgeon general, Joseph Ladapo. His major point is that “no such advantage has been established,” in his words.

According to Ladapo, the C.D.C. panel’s decision won’t have any bearing in Florida.

When the C.D.C. announced on Wednesday that they will routinely include the OVID-19 immunization in kid doses, he said on Tuesday that this would not affect Florida. One remark attributed to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reads, “Thanks to @GovRonDeSantis, I no longer feel forced to fight for the noncompliance of healthy children in Florida with the COVID Act.”

Politico reports that doctors have spoken out against Ladapo because of his anti-vaccination stance.

Mo. Gov. Mike Parson has joined other high-profile figures who are opposed to making childhood vaccinations mandatory.

In a tweet, he promised that as Missouri governor, he would stop the federal government from mandating that all Missouri schools get the C.O.V.I.D. vaccination.
