India has confirmed it carried out precision airstrikes on nine locations within Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, targeting what it identified as militant infrastructure linked to recent terror attacks in Indian-controlled Kashmir that left 26 civilians dead.
The coordinated operation, dubbed “Operation Sindoor,” focused on dismantling facilities used by groups including Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba—organizations long accused by India of orchestrating cross-border violence. Indian officials described the strikes as a measured and necessary response to ongoing threats.
Pakistan quickly condemned the strikes, claiming civilian casualties and destruction of non-military structures. In a retaliatory move, Pakistani forces said they downed multiple Indian aircraft, as both sides exchanged fire along the volatile Line of Control.
The escalation has raised alarm globally, with international leaders calling for immediate restraint and urging both nuclear-armed nations to step back from further confrontation. Calls for diplomatic dialogue have intensified as fears grow over the potential for a broader conflict in the region.
