An 18-year-old Indiana teenager, identified as Trinity Shockley, admitted to plotting a Valentine’s Day mass shooting at her former high school in Mooresville. She has entered a plea deal on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder and faces up to 12.5 years in prison followed by five years of probation.
The investigation began in February, after authorities received a tip that Shockley had access to an AR-15, a bulletproof vest, and was obsessively researching past school shooters. Search warrants uncovered a shrine to the 2018 Parkland shooter and journal entries filled with violent content and references to “Parkland part two.”
Shockley’s attorneys noted she had suffered trauma—including the overdose death of her mother and serious injuries in a 2022 car accident—and was undergoing a mental-health crisis before her arrest. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 24, and the plea agreement includes prohibitions on firearm ownership and mandated electronic monitoring of her devices.
