House Speaker pro-tempore Patrick McHenry, a close associate of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was removed from his job on Tuesday, was the one who evicted former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from her private Capitol office. Pelosi was forced out of the room by McHenry. McHenry sent Pelosi an email informing her that the area was being transferred “for speaker office use” and requesting that she evacuate the space. He then gave Pelosi the order to leave her hideout in the Capitol building. Pelosi emerged from her secluded location on Tuesday with the assistance of the staff members working for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. This action was considered as a significant break with convention, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi commented that while office space is not essential to her, it appears to be important to others.
