In a notable shift within the Republican Party, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has publicly endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the GOP’s standard-bearer in the upcoming presidential contest. Governor Reynolds, while addressing an enthusiastic assembly in Des Moines, emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming election and the need to nominate a candidate capable of securing victory over incumbent President Joe Biden.

At a spirited gathering on the cusp of the January 15th caucuses, Governor Reynolds was vocal about the urgency of steering the nation on a new path, warning of the consequences should the GOP fail to nominate the right candidate. She urged the crowd to back a leader with the proven ability to enact change and confront what she perceives as the current governmental overreach.

Governor Reynolds lauded Governor DeSantis’ handling of the pandemic in Florida, particularly his decisions to maintain open schools and businesses, painting him as a bastion of strength amidst criticism. She contrasted DeSantis’ approach with the Trump administration’s reliance on Dr. Anthony Fauci, suggesting that DeSantis’ defiant stance on Florida’s pandemic policy exemplified the leadership she believes America requires.

In remarks reported by the Des Moines Register prior to the rally, Reynolds expressed skepticism regarding former President Trump’s re-electability, casting doubt on his prospects of a successful bid.

At the rally, Reynolds further celebrated DeSantis’ record on managing crises and his commitment to pro-life principles, characterizing him as a champion against societal decay. Her endorsement culminated in enthusiastic cheers as she declared her full backing for DeSantis as the next President of the United States.

Governor DeSantis, in his subsequent address, reciprocated the commendation for Reynolds, acknowledging her as an exemplary governor and a torchbearer of conservative ideals.

The alliance between Reynolds and DeSantis continued with joint campaigning efforts in Davenport, Iowa, underscoring Iowa’s pivotal role in the presidential nomination process. This collaboration is set to extend to a pre-debate gathering in Miami, Florida, as confirmed by Fox News.

Former President Trump has responded sharply to Reynolds’ endorsement, taking to Truth Social to express his disdain. Trump characterized both Reynolds’ and DeSantis’ actions as disloyal, predicting a negative impact on their political futures and affirming that their mutual support is unlikely to extend beyond each other.

As the race for the White House intensifies, this endorsement marks a significant moment in the Republican primary landscape, signaling shifting alliances and the potential for a new direction in the party’s leadership.
