Former President Bill Clinton is set to be mentioned in soon-to-be-released court documents related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. These filings stem from a 2015 civil lawsuit focusing on Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, concerning allegations of sexual trafficking and abuse involving Virginia Giuffre.
In December 2023, U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska ordered that these documents would be made public after January 1. Alongside Clinton, Prince Andrew, a member of the British royal family who has faced public disgrace, is also expected to be named in the documents.
Clinton’s office, when approached for comment, referred back to a 2019 statement issued by Clinton spokesman Angel Urena regarding Clinton’s interactions with Epstein. This statement emphasized that Clinton “has never been accused of any wrongdoing” in relation to Epstein’s criminal activities and confirmed that the former president did not oppose the unsealing of the documents.
According to Urena’s 2019 statement, President Clinton acknowledged his limited interactions with Epstein. He noted that Clinton had taken a total of four trips on Epstein’s plane: one each to Europe and Asia, and two to Africa, related to the work of the Clinton Foundation. On these trips, Clinton was accompanied by staff, Foundation supporters, and his Secret Service detail. Furthermore, Clinton’s interactions with Epstein included one meeting in Epstein’s Harlem office in 2002 and a brief visit to Epstein’s New York apartment, accompanied by a staff member and his security detail.
Urena also clarified that Clinton had never visited Epstein’s properties in New Mexico, Florida, or Epstein’s private island, Little St. James.
The unsealing of these documents comes years after Epstein was found unresponsive in his New York City jail cell on August 10, 2019, with his death subsequently ruled a suicide. The revelations in these documents are awaited with significant public interest due to the high-profile nature of Epstein’s associations and the serious nature of the allegations against him.
