Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has announced his candidacy for Speaker of the House of Representatives following the ousting of Rep. Kevin McCarthy from the position. Jordan, who currently chairs the House Judiciary Committee, has received support from several Republicans, including Rep. Matt Gaetz, who led the effort to remove McCarthy. Jordan emphasized his ability to unite the Republican conference and promised to focus on delivering real solutions for the country. The House voted 216-210 to remove McCarthy, with eight Republicans joining Democrats in the vote. Rep. Patrick McHenry became the temporary speaker while candidates vie for the gavel.
