Jordan Demands Jack Smith Testify on Trump Prosecutions

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan has formally called on former Special Counsel Jack Smith to testify before Congress regarding what Jordan describes as “partisan and politically motivated” prosecutions of former President Trump.

In his letter, Jordan accused Smith of weaponizing federal law enforcement, citing evidence that Smith sought gag orders, executed a raid on Trump’s home, and obtained phone records from Republican senators during the investigations.

Jordan has given Smith until October 28 to provide documents, communications, and a date for a closed-door interview. The demand marks a significant escalation in congressional oversight of past prosecutions of Trump.

The request comes as skepticism grows within Republican ranks over the handling of the classified documents and election-subversion cases, both of which were later dropped following Trump’s return to office.
