On Thursday, founder of “The View” Joy Behar blasted locals of East Palestine, Ohio, for voting for former President Donald Trump, blaming him for the train derailment.
“Putting someone with extensive ties to the chemical industry in charge of the EPA’s chemical safety office is just one example of why I can’t understand why they would ever vote for him. You guys in that district voted for Donald Trump, the guy who makes everything less safe “Behar indicated the camera and said.
Amid Trump’s visit to East Palestine on Wednesday, Behar urged locals to “look past the photo ops” and determine “who is doing the job here.”
Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin, co-hosts of the show, argued that “showing up” is a big deal in the East Palestine community.
At the end of the segment, co-host Sunny Hostin said that Trump was to blame.
After all, “it’s his fault, and then he shows up,” Behar said.
Since it took Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg 10 days to issue a statement on the crisis and another 20 days for him to visit East Palestine, Farah Griffin argued that this was a “unforced error” on President Biden’s part. On Thursday, Mayor Buttigieg came to town.
Earlier in the segment, Hostin commended Buttigieg for going to East Palestine to do the “work,” rather than just for a photo op.
“This matters greatly. It’s true that this has occurred during the Trump administration “…she explained. “The Republican Party advocates for limited government and fewer rules. This is what happens when businesses are left to self-regulate. When given the opportunity, businesses will always give themselves an A when asked to rate how well they perform as corporate citizens. Yep, that’s how I’d feel too. To give myself a grade, I’d get a “A.” “A proclamation by Hostin.
She went on to say “Furthermore, these individuals will endure hardship as a direct result of the aforementioned events. Don’t get the wrong idea; I’m not implying Trump was the only one involved. It’s true that the Obama and Clinton administrations could have done more to address climate change and chemical safety, but I believe we finally saw some progress with the Trump administration’s deregulation efforts.”
On Wednesday, Trump made a donation of thousands of gallons of cleaning supplies and more than a dozen palettes of “Trump Spring Water” while in East Palestine.
“You are still in our thoughts. We support you 100%. We lift you up in prayer. Moreover, we will support you in your efforts to demand the accountability you are due “On Wednesday, Trump addressed a group of local leaders, emergency personnel, and members of the media at a fire station in East Palestine.
