Twenty-five-year-old Tyler Weaver, a two-time national kart racing champion, was fatally shot during a home invasion at his residence in Forest City, North Carolina, on October 24. He was inside the home with his fiancée, Nevaeh Quintero, who managed to escape and call authorities.
Police described the incident as a “targeted robbery gone wrong,” discovering Weaver with multiple gunshot wounds. The break-in occurred just before 10 a.m., and clues at the scene pointed to a pre-planned attack rather than a random act of violence.
Ten days after the incident, law-enforcement officers arrested two men in connection with the case: 35-year-old Quitez Lamare Watkins, apprehended by the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force, and 26-year-old Jaquavious Craig, who surrendered to Rutherford County authorities. Both are charged with first-degree murder and are being held without bond.
Family members, friends and the kart-racing community paid tribute to Weaver, describing him as generous and passionate—a standout both on and off the track. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together how he became the target of the attack.
