Kathy Griffin, a comedian on the left, said she was diagnosed with a severe form of complicated post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after her cancellation was prompted by a photo of her clutching Trump’s severed head.
Griffin opened up about her mental health struggles in a video posted on Instagram, in which she utilized a fuzzy filter to express how she really feels.
“I put this effect on because it kind of shows how I’m feeling,” she wrote.
Griffin admitted that she was unsure if Instagram was the right platform for her to convey her feelings on the subject, but that she did it nevertheless for the benefit of others.
She finally broke her silence about her horrific panic attacks, saying, “I have been diagnosed with complex PTSD and for the last year and a half I have been plagued with them.” Usually they persist at least a full day, and occasionally they continue for many days in a succession. I feel ridiculous disclosing this to you, but I honestly thought PTSD just affected military personnel. During my bouts, I frequently need IV fluids because I throw up so much. Someone else?
Griffin revealed the eight-hour panic episode in a video she shared to TikTok last Friday.
Yesterday, I suffered through a terrifying eight-hour assault. Griffin said, “I was in bed writhing in anguish for eight hours straight. I thought I was experiencing the onset of a panic attack. Now I’m out on my stroll, and it’s doing me a world of good.
She has serious bodily consequences from her panic episodes on occasion.
“At first, I feel it in my chest, like a tingling. Then,” she stated in yet another TikTok video, “it hits me right in the gut.”
After receiving widespread criticism for a 2017 photo showing her carrying Trump’s severed head, Kathy Griffin said in 2021 on ABC News’ Nightline that she had battled drug addiction and considered suicide.
“For those inside my own field to tell me, ‘It’s over. For five years, you must leave the nation. You’ve brought disgrace to our whole field, ” they kept saying. “It really affected me,” she admitted during the interview. In the end, I found myself agreeing with them. I feel that maybe it’s time for me to leave, and I’ve had a wonderful life, but I don’t see a future for myself.
Griffin campaigned hard for the Democrats during the last election cycle, even going so far as to suggest that “civil war” would break out if Republicans won the midterm elections.
“Vote Democrat in November if you don’t want a civil war. She urged her followers in a September tweet to support the GOP if they wanted civil war.
Griffin later tweeted back to Breitbart News reporter Kristina Wong, denying that she had made any threats of physical harm.
You everyone. The maga blue checks have returned for more mayhem. They keep threatening civil war, so now they’re trying to make it seem like I’m the one who’s threatening it. Because, as she said, “that’s my thing.”
Griffin also called for physical violence in 2020, recommending that someone inject Trump “with the air inside” of a syringe, an action that might be fatal.
