In a shocking development in Kansas City, Missouri, three football fans were found frozen to death in the backyard of a friend’s house, two days after they gathered to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game. The deceased, identified as Ricky Johnson, 38, Clayton McGeeney, 36, and David Harrington, 37, were discovered following a welfare check requested by one of the men’s fiancées.
The incident took place on the night of January 7th when the three men joined others at a friend’s house to watch the Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Their bodies were found at the house located on the 5200 block of NW 83rd Terrace, with one body on the back porch and the others in the backyard.
Kansas City Police Department, who informed Fox News Digital about the case, emphasized that the incident is not being investigated as a homicide. Captain Jake Becchina clarified that there have been no arrests or charges, and the resident of the house was cooperative with detectives. The circumstances leading to their deaths, including whether alcohol or drugs played a role, are still unclear, pending toxicology reports.
Neighbors and family members expressed their shock and concern, with one neighbor, Suzanne Reichart, expressing disbelief at the lack of any disturbance or noise. Meanwhile, family and friends of the victims have been clamoring for answers on social media, raising questions about the homeowner’s awareness of the situation.
The homeowner’s attorney, John Picerno, stated that his client had no knowledge of the men’s plight until the police arrived. He explained that his client was asleep with headphones and a loud fan on and did not hear two people who came looking for the men at his house. Furthermore, despite one of the men’s wives contacting the homeowner via Facebook Messenger, Picerno said that his client did not see the message until after police made contact.
This tragic incident has left the Kansas City community in mourning, as they seek answers and justice for the untimely deaths of Johnson, McGeeney, and Harrington. The homeowner, whose identity has not been disclosed due to the lack of criminal charges, and his family have expressed their deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the deceased.
The case continues to be under investigation, with the local community and the victims’ loved ones eagerly awaiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology reports to shed light on this tragic event.
