Christine Baumgartner, who recently settled her divorce with Kevin Costner, has been spotted for the first time since the settlement. She was seen casually dressed in black leggings, sneakers, and a green top while shopping at Vons supermarket near her $40,000-per-month Montecito rental. According to a friend, Christine had no choice but to settle, as Kevin had all the power in the divorce proceedings. She wanted to avoid the public circus and focus on moving on and creating a fresh start for herself and her children.

The divorce settlement enforced the prenuptial agreement, and Christine agreed to the terms to avoid a substantial monetary penalty if she challenged it. Although the prenup was enforceable, she received more than what was prescribed in the agreement. Kevin Costner’s legal team, led by attorney Laura Wasser, had won several legal battles leading up to the settlement.

Christine had initially requested $248,000 per month in child support, but the judge sided with Kevin’s obligation of $63,000 per month. The settlement also required Christine to repay Kevin more than $1 million if she challenged it.

The divorce battle had been marked by high legal fees, with both parties spending millions. While the settlement brought an end to the legal proceedings, it also put an end to Christine’s request for additional funds to cover her legal expenses.

Christine had previously received over $400,000 to cover her legal fees during the divorce proceedings. The settlement allows both parties to move forward and puts an end to the contentious courtroom battles.
