After spending around eight years of his 20-year sentence for the 2015 murder of 6-year-old Logan Tipton, a man from Kentucky was granted parole.

Ronald Exantus, 42, was initially sentenced to 20 years in jail on assault charges related to the murder; however, a jury deemed him not guilty by reason of insanity, which resulted in the reduction of his murder charges. He was released on parole with mandatory reentry supervision on Wednesday.

The Tipton family’s Versailles house was broken into by Exantus in December 2015. While they were sleeping, he attacked several family members, killing Logan and wounding the child’s father and sisters.

In response to the release, Logan’s father, Dean Tipton, became enraged and threatened to take matters into his own hands if he ever saw Exantus again. Logan’s mother was devastated and indignant that Exantus had not completed the entire term that had been given to him.

Exantus is still monitored under the parole agreement through June 2026.
