The NFL has a problem. The many players who take a knee enrage fans and keeps them out of the park and even away from their TV unless Shane or a John Wayne movie is on. In 2016, the TV ratings dropped 8% and they dropped another 10% in 2017.
That meant that the NFL had a choice to make and make it they did, They decided after a short deliberation to allow kneeling. Reminds me of a fellow I knew once that kept sticking his hand inside the hay bailer to unclog it. Every time he broke the clog loose, it lopped off another finger.
After losing three of his fingers he looked up at me and said, “I do believe this here’s a losing game.”
Or maybe a better illustration considering how they’ve ignored the 800 pound gorilla in the room. There is an old urban legend about animals caught in trap will bite it’s leg off to get out of a trap. That’s true. I have often found just a leg at one of our traps, mostly raccoons. If the NFL was a raccoon and they got caught in a trap, they would bite off three legs and still be caught.
These guys can’t seem to get out of their own way and have decided to take the side of the disrespectful spoiled rich kids over the fans who shell out the money to the team’s pockets and so far it’s not doing so well.
Over 200 NFL players knelt during the US national anthem on Gold Star Mothers Day this year.
The most outrageous act of defiance was the antics by LeSean McCoy of the Buffalo Bills who stretched and ran off the field during the National Anthem.
This week the NFL Players Association defended the millionaire football players’ right to kneel during the National Anthem.
It will be interesting to see how many people buy season tickets. Last year a lot of people stayed home from the games even though they had already paid for the tickets.
Let’s see how many season tickets get sold this year.
