LA City Council Furious, TX Sends Migrants to Los Angeles

On Monday morning, a 12th bus full with migrants arrived in Los Angeles from Texas. This comes exactly a week after city authorities resolved to seek legal action against the state of Texas in connection with its transportation program for migrants.

According to FOX 11 in Los Angeles, the bus brought people from a variety of nations, including Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Russia, and Venezuela. The bus landed at Union Station at roughly 7:15 in the morning with a total of 23 adults, 20 adults, and 21 children on board.

This arrival followed the majority resolution by the Los Angeles City Council to start a lawsuit and a criminal investigation against Texas and Governor Greg Abbott related the migrant bussing scheme. The lawsuit and investigation will target the Texas Department of Transportation and Governor Abbott. The members of the council asked for an inquiry to be conducted to see whether or not Abbott had done any crimes as a result of the program and whether or not the lawsuit was warranted.

Since the first bus arrived in the state of Texas on June 14, the state’s program has brought a total of 435 migrants to the city of Los Angeles. As a result of this policy, over 30,000 refugees and other migrants have been sent to cities all around the United States that are controlled by Democrats. Some of these cities include New York City, Chicago, and Washington, District of Columbia.

In reaction to Los Angeles’ designation as a sanctuary city, Abbott’s administration justified the decision to transport migrants there by noting that the migrants aboard the buses had signed a multi-language consent form that specified their destination. This was done in order to demonstrate that the migrants understood the risks associated with traveling to the city.

Andrew Mahaleris, a spokesman for Abbott, attacked members of the Los Angeles City Council, referring to them as “complete hypocrites” and pointing out their past vote to turn Los Angeles into a sanctuary city. He said that Texas had been relieving the load on its overburdened border towns by transporting migrants to places that practiced sanctuary policies.

On June 9, the Los Angeles City Council made the decision to formally designate the city as a sanctuary city. Governor Abbott has maintained the program since the Texas border area is dealing with a “overwhelming” volume of illegal immigrants crossing the border from Mexico.
