The Democratic party is falling apart before it’s very eyes. Three Democrats wrote a bill to abolish ICE, but it was never a serious attempt and when Paul Ryan agreed to bring it to the floor for a vote the three went into panic mode. The last thing in the world they want to do is to go on record supporting the abolishment of ICE.
It was just to play up to their base, the illegal immigrants. When their bluff was called, all three promised to vote against the very bill that they wrote. The bill was written by Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York. They are even criticizing Paul Ryan for bringing it up for a vote.
Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York introduced the Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement Act earlier Thursday, which would abolish ICE within one year of enactment, and also assemble a commission tasked with setting up a new immigration enforcement agency.
Hours later, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced he planned to bring the proposed “Abolish ICE” bill to the floor, reported The Hill.
The three congressmen promptly released a joint statement accusing Ryan of not taking their bill seriously, and as an act of protest, they will vote down their own legislation and instead use the opportunity to discuss Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, President Donald Trump’s zero-tolerance immigration policy and ICE. “We know Speaker Ryan is not serious about passing our ‘Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement System Act,’ so members of Congress, advocacy groups, and impacted communities will not engage in this political stunt.” Story coming soon.”

What do they mean Ryan isn’t taking the bill seriously? We know. The idea was to propose the bill with the expectation that it would not be allowed to get an up or down vote. Neither they nor their fellow Democrats want their vote to go on the record. Another pathetic attempt by the left to wage a propaganda campaign against Republicans that failed badly.
