White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized major news outlets for what she described as uneven coverage of election related investigations, arguing that some organizations that aggressively promoted years of Russia focused claims are now downplaying or questioning developments tied to Fulton County, Georgia.
Leavitt’s comments came after federal agents seized 2020 election materials from Fulton County election facilities as part of a federal investigation tied to allegations surrounding the 2020 vote. Fulton County officials later moved to challenge the seizure in court and asked for the return of ballots and other records, along with the unsealing of supporting warrant materials.
Leavitt defended the federal action and framed the media reaction as inconsistent, saying the press showed far greater enthusiasm for earlier narratives while resisting or minimizing scrutiny when the focus shifted to Fulton County. The dispute unfolded against a broader backdrop of national debate over election integrity, federal authority, and the handling of election records.
