Something the Democrats don’t want you to know is what was happening to children who came in during his administration. That is besides being locked in cages.
Many were released to people who used the for creepy sh*t, sold them into prostitution or made them work for free. That’s because Obama’s HHS lowered the standards for allowing children to enter with people who were not their parents. Under Trump, that has changed. The HHS placed 90,000 children under the new rules but we have no idea how many became sex slaves or prostitutes because HHS did no follow up
The House Committee on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a 56 page report that shows that under Obama child sex trafficking did not disqualify someone from getting custody of immigrant children.
From Pages 44 and 45:
Prior to January 25, 2016, HHS instructed care providers that no criminal offense was a per se bar to sponsorship.243 By contrast, the Model Family Foster Home Licensing Standards (which reflects requirements found in the Adam Walsh Act of 2006) prescribe certain crimes that automatically disqualify an applicantfrom serving as a foster parent.
Such crimes include felony convictions for child abuse or neglect, for spousal abuse, for a crime against children, or for a crime involving violence, including rape, sexual assault, or homicide, but not including other physical assault or battery.245 Under the Model Standards, a prospective foster parent cannot serve if he has been convicted within the past five years of a felony for physical assault, battery, or a drug-related offense.
The Subcommittee requested basic data concerning sponsors with criminal records. But HHS was unable to tell the Subcommittee how many UACs were released to sponsors having a criminal record; the Office explained that “[w]hile information bearing on a sponsor’s criminal history is contained in a child’s case file, ORR’s computer systems currently do not have the capability to generate reports that aggregate this data.”
On January 25, 2016, HHS implemented new policies that automatically disqualify potential Category 2 or Category 3 sponsors if the sponsor or a member of his or her household have been convicted of a serious crime, including any felony involving child abuse or neglect, any felony against children, and any violent felony.248 In addition, HHS will now deny sponsorship applications if the sponsor, or a member of his household, has had a substantiated adverse child welfare finding based on severe chronic abuse or neglect and other serious problems.
So, even though the Adam Walsh law forbade the government from giving these children to people with criminal records including child sex abues and prostitution, the Obama administreation overruled the lw in order to place the children in unsafe homes. They didn’t even check to see if the adults had sufficient income to support the kids.
“The separation of illegal alien families is the product of the same legal loopholes that Democrats refuse to close. And these laws are the same that have been on the books for over a decade. The president is simply enforcing them,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters last Thursday.
Between April 19 and May 31, there were 1,995 children separated from 1,940 adults by U.S. Border Patrol, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed Saturday.
The numbers represent families who were separated because of illegal entry, immigration violations, possible criminal conduct by the parent, and cases where officials could not verify the family relationship, the DHS spokesperson said.
So, the figure of 2,000 children being detained that is often quoted by Democrats and the media (My, that was redundant wasn’t it?) is a false number because there are many reasons why the children were not allowed to remain with the adult who brought them into the country. The Trump administration is actually following the law that Obama ignored even if it meant sexual or physical abuse for the children.
