Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer, says her female peers are hesitant to “fully manifest” their “implicit bias,” so they only give her “half-support.”
Former Penn swimmer and transgender rights activist Schuyler Faye addressed the public’s acceptance of trans women sports on the Monday edition of her show Dear Schuyler.
Thomas, who was harassed all summer long, has called many of his backers and critics “fake feminists” for spreading transphobic ideas under the guise of “supporting women.”
People could say things like, “Oh, we respect Lia as a woman, as a trans woman, or whatever, we respect her identity, we just don’t think it’s fair.”
If you try to accomplish this goal on your own, you almost certainly won’t. Overheard by one of the female competitors: “I respect you as a woman here, but not here.”
However, this transphobic ideology is sometimes mislabeled as “feminism,” while being a slur against the trans community. There are those who, because to a shared misperception, prefer to disregard or even deny the existence of transgender people. They can’t wait to show how committed they are.
Immediately cease what you’re doing. You can’t just cut me in half.
It was the “protect women’s sports” campaign that they “emerged,” Bailar added, “which has become a very big thing, and they do it under the guise of feminism.” Common criticisms of feminists include “Oh, we’re just feminists, and we’re only fighting for women.” To which I usually reply, “Okay, you’re fighting for women by making women feel like they don’t belong. I’ll be the first to confess that my position isn’t exactly feminist.
According to respondents, there were little noticeable distinctions between the lives of black women and lesbian women. Men, conventional thought said, would never settle down with a flawed woman.
After the article came out, Bailar gave an interview in which she continued to criticize current feminism, saying that it had “twisted,” “turned into excluding women,” and “reduced women to their reproductive capacity.”
According to Thomas’s recent remarks, “at the end of the day, everyone is trying to work together to sort of break down these patriarchal ideas of what a woman is and who can be a woman” and “open that up to the very wide range of possibilities that there are.”
In December, Thomas’s loved ones and coaches submitted a petition to the NCAA demanding that he and other transgender athletes be banned from competition. They said “women’s sports pride” was under jeopardy.
