NYU professor Scott Galloway has sparked fresh debate by blaming the Biden family for what he calls a critical misstep that cost the Democratic Party the 2024 election.
Speaking on a podcast, Galloway argued that President Joe Biden’s decision to delay exiting the race—and immediately endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris without allowing an open primary—shut down the opportunity for a stronger candidate to emerge. He believes this move weakened the party’s ability to challenge Donald Trump effectively.
According to Galloway, Harris was not positioned to unify or energize voters and lacked the momentum needed to take on a high-stakes presidential race. He added that the Biden family’s insistence on shaping the nomination process around loyalty rather than competition ultimately undermined the party’s chances.
He concluded that this strategic error may define Biden’s legacy more than his legislative accomplishments, framing it as a moment when political calculation overtook democratic process. So far, there has been no public response from the Biden family regarding the criticism.
