Suffolk County homicide investigators are on a mission to locate the suppliers of the fatal dose that claimed the life of 33-year-old Irish swimwear designer Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra aboard a yacht at the Montauk Yacht Club on August 5. Authorities suspect she suffered an accidental overdose after discovering a powdery white substance—possibly heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, or a blend—near her body. Toxicology results are still pending and expected soon.
Detectives are considering serious criminal charges against any individuals found responsible, including manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide. The case has intensified calls for tougher legal remedies, with lawmakers currently reviewing a proposed “Chelsey’s Law” that would allow prosecutors to charge dealers with drug-induced manslaughter.
Nolan-O’Slatarra, co-founder of the fashion brand East x East, was discovered unconscious aboard a Sea Ray vessel owned by insurance executive Christopher Durnan. While no foul play has been confirmed, the status of the investigation remains active, with law enforcement pursuing all leads.
