Over 50 individuals were shot over the weekend in Chicago, the city of Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot (11 of them were killed).
Lightfoot has recommended a raise for herself as a reward for the excellent job she has done in maintaining public safety.
According to the draft law, Lightfoot would be eligible for a yearly inflation hike of up to five percent.
Her present yearly pay of $209,915 is set to increase to $216,210 come May 2023, according to the ordinance.
In addition, Lightfoot’s compensation would increase by five percent for each year she serves as mayor.
If the pay boost gets too politically charged, she may always refuse it.
Vehicle thefts are up 74% from 2021 levels, and crime overall is up 37% in the liberal city.
Chicago has a significant problem with violence and gang activity, yet Lightfoot consistently chooses to overlook the issue.
Despite Lightfoot’s frequent claims of “success” in the city’s war on crime, tales of fatal shootings continue to surface every weekend.
The liberal mayor of Chicago mentioned how many large businesses were relocating to the city, but he didn’t add how many were leaving because of the high crime rate.
Tyson Foods has lately declared that it will relocate from Chicago to the more secure state of Arkansas.
Lightfoot was criticized by McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski for her response to the crime.
A lot of violent crimes are taking place in our eateries, and we also have problems with the homeless. It’s getting to the point where drug overdoses are happening in our eateries. According to Kempczinski, “every day at our restaurants, we observe what’s occurring in society at large.”
